Do I need a consultation before my first treatment?
Yes, and it’s free. Every new client is assessed before their first treatment. We check your skin and hair type, review your medical history, patch test where required, and build a plan including how many sessions you’ll need and what it will cost. No obligation to book on the day. Call or WhatsApp 072 222 3232 to arrange one.
Does it hurt?
Most clients describe laser treatments as a quick snap against the skin rather than pain. The Harmony XL Pro has built-in cooling to keep you comfortable, and topical numbing cream is available for micro needling. ClearLift feels like mild warmth. Discomfort varies by treatment area, and we adjust settings to keep you comfortable throughout.
Can I exercise or tan after my treatment?
Avoid exercise, hot showers, saunas and swimming for 24 hours after treatment, then return to your normal routine. Do not tan or use sunbeds before or after treatment, and wear a broad-spectrum SPF 50 daily. Sun exposure on treated skin is the single most common cause of poor results and pigmentation problems.
How much does laser hair removal cost in Randburg?
Laser hair removal in the Randburg and greater Johannesburg area generally ranges from about R200 for a small area such as the upper lip to around R2000 for large areas such as full legs. At DermaNu, pricing depends on the size of the area and the number of sessions in your plan, and course packages work out cheaper than paying per session. You receive a written quote at your free consultation.
Is laser hair removal safe for dark skin?
Yes. DermaNu uses the Alma Harmony XL Pro, which is designed to treat all skin types, including deeper skin tones, by targeting the hair follicle while protecting surrounding skin. Skin tone does change the settings we use and sometimes the number of sessions needed. Your skin type is assessed at consultation before any treatment begins.
How many sessions does laser tattoo removal take?
Most tattoos need 6–12 sessions, spaced 6–8 weeks apart. Black and dark blue inks respond fastest; greens, light blues and yellows are more stubborn and usually need more sessions. The total also depends on the tattoo’s size, ink depth, age, position and your skin type. Amateur tattoos generally clear faster than professional ones. We give you a realistic estimate at consultation.
What is ClearLift and is there any downtime?
No, you can return to work or the gym immediately. Mild redness may occur and usually settles within a few hours. ClearLift on the Harmony XL Pro won Best Anti-Ageing Treatment of the Year at the 2019 MyFaceMyBody Global Aesthetic Awards.
Where is DermaNu and when are you open?
DermaNu Laser and Aesthetics is at 11 Hans Schoeman Street, Malanshof, Randburg, 2194, in northern Johannesburg. It’s short drive from Ferndale, Fontainebleau, Northcliff, Blairgowrie, Cresta and Northgate. We are open Monday to Friday 08:00–16:00, and two Saturdays a month from 08:00–13:00 by appointment.
